We are currently accepting script submissions
Please continue reading below for criteria.
If you believe you have a play that fits the above criteria, we would love to hear from you! Please submit a PDF of your play and your resume to Scripts@StridesCollective.com. Please name your Script document in the following format: Last Name_PlayTitle (I.e. “Son_StopKiss”). In the body of the email, please include a brief synopsis of your play as well as the number of characters/actors needed.
Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a deadline of June 1, 2024. Due to the high volume of submissions anticipated, we cannot guarantee a response to everyone who submits. We thank you deeply for your interest in The Strides Collective and for your contribution to queer theatre!
+ Submission Criteria:
THE PLAYWRIGHT IS...
- A self-identified member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Playwright resides in the Greater Philadelphia Area
- 18 years or older at the time of submission.
- An emerging artist.*
- The Strides Collective considers a playwright to be emerging if they have never had any script published or professionally produced (i.e. an AEA production).
THE PLAY...
Has NOT been published and/or produced previously (prior workshops and readings are okay).
Requires no more than 6 actors.
Is at least 60 minutes in length.
Is based in realism and/or magical realism.
Takes place in a modern setting (i.e. Present day, or within the last few years or near future).
Is original in content.
+ What We Are Looking For:
Strong queer characters that push past stereotypes.
A presentation of queer joy.
A strong point of view.
Queer love being celebrated.
Diverse queer representation.
Plays about the here and now.
Plays that speak to the current social/political climate.
+ What We Are Not Looking For:
Plays that have already received a production.
Period pieces or works of historical fiction.
Biographies of real people.
Adaptations of any kind (I.e. myths, Shakespeare, etc.)
Plays for Young Audiences.
Musicals.
Actor Database Submissions
The Strides Collective, a Philadelphia nonprofit theatre that produces and develops work by emerging queer playwrights, is collecting actor submissions to keep on file for future projects and collaborations!
This is a general interest form, not for a specific project. We will accept any and all submissions from non-union actors who live in or around the Philadelphia area who would like their information to be kept on file.
